in college and connect with people who help you!
Spring 2017 First Year Experience Classes at Berkeley City College
If you are a high school graduate who wants to attend
Berkeley City College full-time to obtain an associate
degree in approximately two years, then transfer to a four-
year college, First Year Experience (FYE) is for you. This
innovative cohort program provides intensive support and
early planning to help you succeed in college. You may
apply to the program if you qualify for English 1A.
Here is how BCC’s First Year Experience Program
works:
• You will have priority enrollment.
• You enroll in at least 12 units in your first and second
semesters.
• A college success class is part of your first semester.
• Your classes include English and Math as well as
general education courses in the social sciences,
Humanities, Art, and Science, Technology, Engineering
and Mathematics (STEM) courses.
• You will have the support necessary for your success,
and will work with caring and knowledgeable faculty
and counselors.
• FYE is a cohort program, so you attend classes with the
same students during your first semester and develop
strong ties with your classmates. You help each other to
get good grades, pass your classes, and graduate.
