Discovery Bay Community makes “Trick or Treat for Canned Food” a frightening success! On
Wednesday, Oct . 23, students from Excelsior, Discovery Bay and Timber Point schools turned
out in numbers to support the “Community Food Pantry“ by holding a “Trick or Treat for
Canned Goods” event throughout the neighborhoods in Discovery Bay. Kim Karr, Leadership
teacher at Excelsior, provided maps, lots of motivation, and cheered on a group of 120 stu-
dents , plus teachers, parents and Byron Delta Lions Club volunteers, as they rolled shopping
carts, loaned by our Discovery Bay Safeway, through the neighborhood and collected more
than 1,000 cans of food and a few cash donations to boot! On Saturday Oct. 26, Byron Delta
Lions Club volunteers stood in front of the Discovery Bay Safeway and collected close to 1
,000 cans of food and cash donations for the “Community Food Pantry.” Thanks to everyone
for their support for this great Discovery Bay “Community with a Heart” event!
