t was a star-studded evening on June 10 for the sold-out 6thAnnual
East Bay Idol 3 contest held at De Luna Ranch in Brentwood. It was
hosted by The Byron Delta Lions Club, and featured the Summerset Big
Band. The karaoke singing competition was a benefit dinner concert for

local children’s charities. “I think the evening was an incredible success. Our members said everything was done
very professionally,” said Lisa Taylor, first vice president of the Byron Delta Lions. “This was my first fundraiser
and we raised $10,441!” Top three singing competition winners out of 11 performers were Steve Graves (3rd),
Holly Durham (2nd) and Dave Ogden, who not only took first place, but also donated his $300 award back to
the Lions. Local charities the Lions support are the Rudy Award (Excelsior Middle School), Canine Companions
for Independence, Brentwood Community Food Bank, Peace Poster Contest (Excelsior Middle School), Flag
Days-Read Across America (Discovery Bay and Timber Point Elementary Schools), just to name a few. The event
was sponsored by a long list of supporters to include: Precision Cabinets & Trim, Bank of the West (Lori Avon),
Bagel Street Café, Cap’s Oak Street Bar & Grill, DC Entertainment, Delta Sun Times, DLS Insurance, Hannah
Nicole Vineyards & Winery, Sports Bar & Steakhouse Discovery Bay, Studio 213 Sue Berumen hairstylist,
Fancy Hoofs Bethel Island, and more. To join the Bryon Delta Lions, attend two general meetings on the first
Friday of every month at 10:00 a.m. at the Delta Community Presbyterian Church in Discovery Bay. For more
