T
alking about ghosts usu-
ally happens around Hal-
loween. For me and two other
girls, local paranormal investiga-
tors, ghosts are something we don’t
just talk about; they are something
we look for throughout the year as
we chase urban legends and ghost
stories.We are an all-girl paranor-
mal investigation group, called Cali
Ghost Girls.
The three of us, me - Amy
Schrader, Stephanie Dourgarian
and Tammy Ikeoka, travel to loca-
tions with historical significance
throughout the country to see if
there are any traces of history still
“haunting” these locations. We
collect evidence using high tech
equipment; to include EVP Re-
corders (electronic voice phenom-
ena), video cameras, spirit boxes,
EMF detectors (electromagnetic
field detectors used to track energy
sources), night vision photography,
thermal scanners and more. In
the darkest hours of the night, we
wander through historical saloons,
underground tunnels, hotels, cem-
eteries, mines, jail houses, opera
houses, basements and any place
that has a story to tell.
Our group also leads Brent-
wood Historic Ghost Tours, a
walking tour that takes place in
downtown Brentwood. The tour
transports you to the streets of
Brentwood in the 1900's, visiting
the sights of saloons, brothels and
unsolved deaths that have left spir-
its which still reside amongst the
living.
“People will be very surprised
to learn the history of Brentwood,”
said Tammy. “We have some great
stories to share and have already
had substantial paranormal activity
along the tour.”
The Cali Ghost Girls team plan
to add tours in Oakley, Byron and
Antioch in the future.
There are generally two types
of spirits we encounter. The most
common is one that was at one
point alive, and has remained with
Unexplained Noises in the Attic?
