I
t’s easy to judge a perfectly fit woman
by guessing she’s always been that way or
she’s never struggled with weight before,
but for Kemala Purcell, these conclusions
would’ve been way off the mark.
Pregnancies with both of her daughters,
now ages 14 and 17, found her reaching
a total weight of 205 pounds at 5’ 6”
tall. Exercising helped bring most of
the weight off, and now she’s added a
new ingredient to her stay-fit regimen.
“I lost my weight in the last eight years
and now I’m starting to struggle with pre-
menopause issues,” said Kemala, age
44. “Body by Vi has really helped me with
a lot of symptoms I was facing, like night
sweats and holding onto stubborn fat.”
She found the weight-control, meal-
replacement shake through a friend she
teaches with at In-Shape in Brentwood.
“I was introduced to Body by Vi by
Brandi
DiMercurio,”
said
Kemala.
“She was introduced to it back in
November and loved the product and
the concept of a 90-Day Challenge, and
shared it with others, including me.”
Always tired and hungry, Kemala
found herself going to bed at 9:30 p.m.
and waking up at 6:30 a.m., still tired.
“After a week of using the Body by Vi
products, I found myself going to bed at
10:30 p.m. - 11 p.m., and waking up
before
6:30 a.m. I have consistent energy all day
long, both mental and physical!” she said.
“As far as being hungry all the time, I don’t
have cravings like I used to and I find that
I eat smaller meals and am satisfied.”
She said she still eats every three
hours, five to six small meals a day.
“I’ve gotten leaner and ran my first half
marathon back in May without walking
once and without any pain!” said Kemala,
who began using the products in April
this year. “That was huge for me.”
With 43 customers and eight promoters on
her team, Kemala said she loves to share
a great product with others and in turn,
help her customers share their product
and progress with their family and friends.
Staying healthy is important to her.
“I believe it’s important to eat foods as
clean as possible, meaning very little, if
any, processed foods,” said Kemala. “It
means living an active lifestyle, challenging
my body to get stronger physically. And it
means being positive, which might be the
most important aspect of being healthy. A
positive attitude, believing in who you are
and what you can do, gives you strength
to accomplish anything in life. It’s also
contagious to those around you, influencing
their world to make a change as well.”
With her daughters Kasie and Kyra
having a shake for breakfast every
morning, and her husband Michael using
the products and boasting an eight-
pound weight loss so far, Kemala said
her grocery bill is “losing weight” too.
“The cost benefits of this product are
losing weight and getting fit for less than
$2 a meal,” said Kemala, who has shaved
off $40 a week from her grocery bill.
Health benefits stack up nicely too.
“We have a Vi-Shape, which is our nutrition
shake containing over 8600 calories worth
of nutrition in a 90-calorie mix. We also have
multi-mineral and vitamin supplements,
anti-aging and energy supplements,
supercharged antioxidant supplements
(which helps fight off free radicals), and
omega vitals supplements, which gives our
bodies the good fats we need and helps us
to not crave the bad fats,” she said. “The best
part is they are all natural and herb-based.”
Taking care of the temple God gave her,
Kemala said her faith in Jesus Christ is
the foundation in everything she does.
“Taking care of me and my family is at the
root of my faith,” said Kemala, who attends
Golden Hills Community Church. “It is my
desire to share His love and encouragement
with others and this is the route He has
led me down. I want to embrace it and
share the gift of good health with others.”
Her advice to those seeking a healthier
lifestyle is to take inventory of what you’re
eating and set yourself up to succeed.
“Don’t bring in those food items into your
home that you know are going to make
you tempted!” she warned. “Have an
accountability partner and keep a journal of
what you are eating. Have a work-out buddy
and put up reminders around your home of
why youwant to loseweight and get healthy.”
“And if you stumble,” she added, “get
back up and start over. Everyone falls, but
those who get back up, finish the race.”
